As I am sure is becoming abundantly clear, I am a sucker for anything new and hyped. I resisted as long as I could, but all the talk of Yves Saint Laurent’s new concealer, TOUCHE ÉCLAT – Radiant Touch, finally drew me in.
I like it. I can’t say I absolutely love it. But it is quite nice. The packaging is superb – as you can see from the photo, it has a brush applicator, which I typically eschew in favor of foam-tip applicators, but this one isn’t bad. You press on the bottom to pump the product up into the brush, then apply. I still use my fingertips to blend, but the application to the face is soft and gentle. The gold color of the tube is nice and feels fancy, and from what I can tell, is actual metal, not just gold-colored plastic.
The concealer itself is very sheer, soft, and velvety. If you’re looking for something that gives you intense coverage, this isn’t it – TOUCHE ÉCLAT – Radiant Touch has more a luminous “veil” effect, lightening imperfections but not erasing them altogether. (For a concealer that does that effectively, I recommend Benefit’s Erase Paste.) It does, however, feel great on the skin – like a very lightweight, smooth moisturizer that vanishes into your skin’s texture – and works great as an undereye lightener and all-over evener outer.
I’d recommend this to anyone with reasonably good skin who just wants a little evening out from their spot concealer, or who is already using a foundation and just wants an extra push from a concealer.
